The UPC comes from the factory with an alarm circuit pre-wired to channel 32 of the upper (first) UIO module. The alarm sources are connected in series – any trip in one or more of the alarm sources will change the state of the circuit from the normally closed (okay) state to the open (alarm) state.
• PS1 and PS2 – Any malfunction of the power supply(ies) will open the circuit.
• Door – The alarm circuit will be open anytime the door to the UPC is opened.
• Fan 1 and Fan 2 – Any malfunction of one or both of the fans will open the circuit.

The FOE provides an I/O link interface between the UPCs. The UPCs can communicate with the controller through one or two redundant sets of single mode FOEs. Redundant fiber optic cables must be used to connect each UPC, which contains the remote I/Os and the controller.
